SHAH ALAM: Those who join the Student's Police Volunteer Reserve Corps will have priority when applying to join the force, says the inspector-general of police.
Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said this would apply to Student's PVR Corps members from all universities, but warned that they would still need to meet strict criteria.
"Those who apply to join the force, if they have the Student's PVR Corps certificate, will be granted an easier path.
"This, however, depends on if these trainees meet the strict criteria, including physical conditions, that have been set," he told reporters after attending the passing out parade for the Student's Police Volunteer Reserve Corps at the Universiti Teknologi Mara campus here.
Also present was UiTM vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan and Federal Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director Datuk Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad.
Razarudin said those who did not join the police force after graduating could still contribute by becoming the eyes and ears of the force.
"We have also suggested that students who join the Students PVR Corps be absorbed as Police Volunteer Reserve personnel with appropriate ranks.
"The selection process for them to be absorbed as PVRs will be easier as they have already trained for it as students in university," he said.
