KUALA LUMPUR: Two college students were killed in an accident involving six vehicles in Jalan Cheras here today.
The victims, aged 22, were the passengers in one of the vehicles involved in the 6.43am accident.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the accident occured when one of the vehicles skidded onto the opposite lane of the road.
The vehicle later collided with the other five vehicles coming from the opposite direction.
"A 23-year-old man, believed to be driving under the influence, was arrested to facilitate investigation into the accident.
"He is the driver of the vehicle, which skidded and entered the opposite lane during the incident," he said in a statement today.
Zamzuri added that the case is being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence.
