JOHOR BARU: It was a very sombre moment for the next of kin of one of the policemen killed in the attack at the Ulu Tiram police station.
The family members, believed to be male siblings of one of the victims, were emotional when approached by the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain at the Forensic Department of Hospital Sultan Ismail (HSI) today.
During his visit to HSI, Razarudin expressed his condolences to the family over the incident that befell the policemen.
He also took time to visit other police officers receiving treatment at HSI.
Two policemen, Constables Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar and Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said were killed, and another injured, after a masked intruder stormed the Ulu Tiram police station here, early this morning.
Johor police chief Commissioner M. Kumar confirmed the attack on the Ulu Tiram police station.
In the 2.45am incident the suspect slashed Ahmad Azza on his neck and head, and shot Muhamad Syafiq.
Ths suspect also shot and injured another policeman, Corporal Mohd Hasif Roslan, before being shot dead.
Mohd Hasif is being at Hospital Sultan Ismail.
Razarudin said the suspect is believed to have links to Jemaah Islamiyah (JI).
He said five members of the suspect's family have been arrested and JI material was found at the suspect's home.
