#SHOWBIZ: Photographer charged with assaulting designers looks calm in court

PETALING JAYA: The freelance photographer accused of injuring fashion designers Razman and Razmi, Aqo Imran, calmly walked out of the courtroom of the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court at 11.30 this morning.

Aqo or Muhammad Imran Khairul, 30, was seen smiling when he saw some of his friends who came to support him.

Accompanied by his lawyer, Datuk Suraj Singh and the police, Aqo pronounced the Istighfar when he saw his friends including lawyer and actor Harris Anuar.

In the trial, Aqo pleaded not guilty to two charges of injuring the fashion designers in a ceremony at a hotel in Petaling Jaya two days ago.

The charges were read out by a court interpreter in front of Magistrate Farah Azura Mohd Saad.

"I understand the charges, I plead not guilty," answered Aqo.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Husna Amran proposed bail of RM8,000 with one surety for each charge.

Suraj appealed for the bail amount to be reduced on the grounds that the accused worked as a freelance photographer, was married and supported his parents, and did not have a regular income.

Farah Azura allowed the accused to be bailed at RM3,500 with one surety for each charge.

The re-mention of the case is set for Feb 28.

Razman and Razmi were injured in the face at an awards event after being assaulted by a photographer.

The incident happened when a reporter was interviewing entrepreneur Datuk Seri Hasmiza Othman or Datuk Seri Vida.

Both men suffered wounds on their cheeks and were given emergency treatment, before the organisers filed a police report at the Mutiara Damansara Police Station.
