KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actress and entrepreneur, Rozita Che Wan, has reportedly cleared her nearly RM1 million debt with Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara).
Berita Harian revealed this through screenshots of a WhatsApp exchange between Rozita, 51, and her 10-year-old daughter, Aaisyah Dhia Rana.
In the conversation, Aaisyah asked about her mother's debt and the status of property that was almost auctioned off.
"Mummy, you've paid off your Mara debt already? So, there's nothing more to do with Mara anymore?" she wrote.
Rozita, affectionately known as Che Ta, confirmed the debt had been settled. "Done! Why, darling?" she replied.
Aaisyah then expressed her sadness over the criticism her mother faced when the issue went public.
"I'm sad that many people have been talking badly about Mummy. I love you, Mummy," she added.
Rozita was touched by her daughter's concern, saying, "The worries of a child. You're big already, able to worry about your mother."
On Dec 10, Che Ta's residence was reportedly raided by Mara officers along with lawyers and court representatives following allegations that she had failed to repay a loan worth almost RM1 million.
It is understood that Che Ta took out a loan with the agency in 2017, but allegedly never paid the loan.
Mara's legal division has initiated bankruptcy proceedings against Rozita and her eldest son, Ammar Effendy, 28, who co-signed the loan.
Mara claims the auction is a last resort after multiple failed attempts to recover the outstanding debt.
Rozita had previously addressed the allegations on Instagram, denying claims that she has not repaid her Mara loan since 2017.
In an older post, she stated that she plans to reveal the truth in the future.
