KUALA LUMPUR: A Haval SUV, sofas, refrigerators, and air conditioners are among the items belonging to popular actress Rozita Che Wan, better known as Che Ta, set to be auctioned tomorrow.
It is believed that the public auction, starting at 10.30am at her residence in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, involves 34 items valued at RM902,012.46, BH Online reported.
The auction order was issued by the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court and will be conducted by Auctrade Auctions Solution.
The auction stems from allegations that Rozita failed to repay a loan worth nearly RM1 million.
On Dec 10, her home was reportedly raided by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) officers, along with lawyers and court representatives.
Rozita allegedly secured the RM960,000 loan through her company, RCW Worldwide Sdn Bhd, in 2017 but has not made repayments over the past seven years.
She has also reportedly avoided meetings with Mara to restructure or settle the loan.
As a result, Mara has initiated bankruptcy proceedings against Rozita and her eldest son, Ammar Effendy, who co-signed the loan.
Mara claims the auction is a last resort after multiple failed attempts to recover the outstanding debt.
Efforts to contact Rozita and her management team for comments have been unsuccessful at the time of writing.
