#SHOWBIZ: Wife, children feel lost after Along Cham's arrest

KUALA LUMPUR: The wife of actor and comedian Along Cham, Afreena Suhaimi, has expressed her heartbreak following her husband's arrest and remand.

Sharing her struggles with Harian Metro, she revealed how deeply his absence has affected her and her family.

"I feel very sad. I can't eat or sleep at night and have been experiencing mild depression since he was remanded," she said.

Afreena, 32, also disclosed that her health has declined, losing five kilogrammes in just 10 days due to stress.

Married for only eight months, Afreena described her relationship with Along, whose real name is Muhammad Nizamuddin Ahmad, as exceptionally close.

"He's not just my husband but also my best friend. Whether buying onions or doing laundry, he would always accompany me. He means the world to me."

Afreena is determined to stay strong for her three children from a previous marriage despite her emotional turmoil.

She expressed gratitude for her family's unwavering support, especially from her father, and the understanding shown by her employer, who has allowed her to work from home during this challenging time.

She admitted telling her children that Along was "away for work" to shield them from the truth.

Along is reportedly close to her children and has been a significant part of their lives.

The 41-year-old artiste has pleaded not guilty to two charges of possessing cannabis weighing 58.23g and 2.07g, allegedly found at a house near Cyberjaya on Dec 14.

His next court date is set for Jan 27, and Afreena hopes for his release.
