#SHOWBIZ: Danny enjoys e-hailing work, avoids burdening wife

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Danny of X-Factor fame has found satisfaction as an e-hailing driver since 2017 and sees no reason to stop.

For the 44-year-old artiste, whose real name is Mohd Kardanie Anwa, the job provides steady income and financial support for his family.

"It's enjoyable and worth it. In production work, you get paid once, and then it's gone.

"With e-hailing, you earn daily and can pay your bills regularly," he told HM Online.

Danny, who was met during the launch of Unifi TV Originals' drama Sebelum Titik Noktah, explained that he chose this path to avoid burdening his wife or relying solely on her financially.

"Finances are often a cause of domestic issues. My wife even says that if I make RM50 a day, it's enough. "Every wife wants to see her husband working," he said.

Since starting e-hailing, Danny has encouraged friends in the entertainment industry to consider it as a side income, especially when they're not getting work offers.

"I've made many connections through this job, and I also sell insurance. It's essential to think ahead and be prepared for the future," he added.

He noted that some of his friends are reluctant to try e-hailing, possibly due to pride.

"It's sad to see artistes struggling when there are no offers. If you have a car, you should give it a try," he said.

Now more active behind the scenes, Danny still takes on e-hailing whenever it fits around his production schedule.

"I've done shifts from midnight until 6am, then rested briefly before going to set. After taking my kids to school, I sometimes drive again.

"Even if I make RM100, it keeps my wallet full," he said.

Danny will appear in the drama series Sebelum Titik Noktah, set to air from Nov 11, on Unifi TV.

The cast also includes Aiman Hakim Ridza, Puteri Balqis, Noki, Shabby, Mathni Razak and Alif Muhaimin.
