KUALA LUMPUR: A sleeping woman was attacked by five men before being gang raped at her residence in Wangsa Maju here yesterday.
In the 3.30am incident, the 27-year-old victim, who was sleeping in her room woke up when her mouth was covered by a suspect who is believed to be a friend of her brother-in-law.
According to a source, the suspects also tied the victim's hands and covered her mouth with adhesive tape before they raped her and recorded it.
"After raping the victim they ran away. She was injured and had bruises on her hands.
"The victim was traumatised by the incident and lodged a report at the Wangsa Maju Police Station for further action," he said.
Federal Sexual, Women and Children Crime Investigation Division (D11) principal assistant director Assistant Commissioner Siti Kamsiah Hassan confirmed receiving a report regarding the incident.
She said the suspects were being tracked down after escaping and the case was being investigated according to Section 376 of the Penal Code.
