KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran comedian Sathiya, who recently suffered a mild stroke, is grateful that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently sent representatives to pay him a visit at his home.
In a Berita Harian report today, the 60-year-old artiste sang praises for the premier who had always showed his concern for veteran artistes.
Sathiya, whose real name is Sathia Periasamy, said: "Being a veteran in the industry for 40 years, I'm glad that he knows of my existence and sent 15 people to visit me and presented me with a contribution."
In a Facebook post he shared recently, Anwar said that the contribution was handed to Sathiya by his political secretary Ahmad Farhan Fauzi.
In the post, Anwar also wished for the comedian to be back on his feet, so that he could resume his contributions to the local entertainment scene.
Meanwhile, Sathiya said: "I can no longer work like before. Although I can speak, my legs and hands are still weak due to stroke.
"So whatever people offer me, I'm grateful for it but I'm not expecting job offers to come my way either."
