POPULAR reality show 'Famili Duo' returns for its fourth season, bringing family members together to compete in creative and entertaining challenges.
Set to premiere this Sunday, at 9pm on TV3, the show promises an exciting new season filled with fresh talent and unexpected twists.
Executive producer Muhamad Sufian Che Isa shared some insights about this season.
Past champs
"What makes this edition unique is that many of the participants are past champions of other reality shows.
"As this is already our fourth season, many of the contestants and viewers are familiar with the show's format.
"So, we're expecting an even higher level of performance this time," Sufian said.
While returning shows often risk becoming repetitive, Sufian is confident that 'Famili Duo' will stay fresh.
"Each contestant brings their own creativity, ensuring every season offers something new.
"It's not just about singing — it's about how they can turn each performance into a memorable experience."
This season will feature six pairs of contestants, including well-known siblings and cousins.
Mystery element
The lineup includes sisters Shiha and Ieda Zikir, siblings Zahid and Anne Baharudin, cousins Ayie (from Floor 88) and Salma Asis, cousins Tomok and Sharul Kamal, as well as cousins Didi Astillah and Yasmin Aziz.
Adding an element of mystery, one contestant, Naqiu, will compete with a secret partner whose identity will only be revealed in the first episode.
"This is part of the excitement we've built for the audience," said Sufian.
Naqiu, keeping the secret tight, declined to give any hints.
"I'm not spilling anything, no matter how hard you try to make me!" he joked.
New judge
The judging panel also sees a slight change.
Singer Mas Idayu returns as a judge, but her previous co-judge Ajai will be replaced by industry veteran Datuk Rosyam Nor.
Rosyam, though not a musician or singer himself, feels his experience as an entertainer will help him assess the contestants.
"I've been a guest judge on various shows before, but this is my first time as a permanent judge," Rosyam said.
"When I spoke with the production team, I understood their vision. They're not just looking for good singers — they want true entertainers."
The show will be hosted by Sharif of Zero fame (one half of last season's winning duo) and actress Janna Nick.
Over seven weeks, contestants will compete for the weekly cash prize of RM10,000, while the grand finale offers a grand prize of RM100,000.
Winners will be decided based on a combination of judges' scores (70 per cent) and audience votes via the Tonton app (30 per cent).
Viewers can catch the show live on TV3 or stream it on www.tonton.com.my or the Tonton app, available on Google Play and the App Store.
