Actress Sophia Albarakbah had a frightful scare while filming her latest horror-comedy flick 'Saka Perawan'.
The 30-year-old artiste, whose full name is Sharifah Sophia Syed Abdul Rahman, said it happened while she was playing a 'pontianak' (vampire) and was in a prone position above ground.
"In the movie, there are scenes where I turn into a 'pontianak' and have to fly around. That was a challenge.
"It was scary at first, but also thrilling to be able to 'fly' that way. I'll never forget the experience," she said after the gala screening of 'Saka Perawan' at GSC The Starling Mall in Petaling Jaya recently.
Sophia explained how the flying scenes required a rigging technique where her body and feet would be bound using a special rope.
"It was my first time doing this. Then, there was one scene where I had to hang in a prone position. They tied my back and both my legs. But when I was raised high, the bonds on my legs broke.
"I panicked and the production team immediately took me down although they had also placed mattresses on the ground.
"I can laugh about it right now, but it was pretty scary at the time," she said.
Produced by Grand Brilliance in collaboration with Primeworks Studios (PWS), 'Saka Perawan' is directed by Dr Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri.
Sophia, Isyariana Che Azmi, and Nelissa Nidzam play sisters who have to contend with a dark family secret.
The film also stars an ensemble cast of comedians and screen legends such as Datuk Fauziah Nawi, Azlee Senario, Yassin Senario, Datuk Seri Eizlan Yusof, Man Raja Lawak, and Atu Zero.
'Saka Perawan' is currently screening in cinemas nationwide.
