KUALA LUMPUR: Crazy Rich Asians singer Cheryl K is dropping her new single I Do (I'll Marry You) at midnight worldwide next Tuesday.
In a statement yesterday, Cheryl said that the song was produced by Kev Luu who has worked with Lil Wayne, Celine Dion, Usher, Lil Nas X and Britney Spears.
"This release is a romantic pop ballad that tells the story from a first date, to proposal, wedding, and to dreams for the future.
"We made sure to include wedding bells, and this song definitely encompasses a happy beat of a joyous marriage celebration!" said Cheryl.
The song's other credits include Mikael Ravn (co-producer) and Jack Chen (pianist).
"I wrote it with Kev as a surprise for my supposed wedding earlier this year.
"I would hate for it to go to waste and we've already worked so hard on this song, so I really hope someone else can use this for their own wedding someday!" said Cheryl.
"I would be extremely touched to see that. I still think it's a beautiful work of art that tells a story of a part of my life, that anyone else can also relate to."
Cheryl plans to pitch the song for television and radio stations.
"I feel like a lot of wedding songs come from a male's perspective of asking the female to marry, and I wanted to share it from a female's perspective of asking and saying, "So will you have me as your wife? Stick together, build a life?" she said.
"I can't wait for everyone to hear this."
I Do (I'll Marry You) will be released on all major music platforms including Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, Amazon Music, Google Music, Instagram and TikTok.
