ALOR STAR: MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan has been appointed Asian Institute of Medicine, Science and Technology (AIMST) University Pro- Chancellor.
Saravanan, who is also the Tapah member of parliament, announced his appointment during AIMST University's 15th convocation ceremony in a Facebook post on Saturday.
He expressed gratitude to the university's Chancellor and MIC president Tan Sri S.A. Vigneswaran and the university for his appointment.
"With a great sense of humility and honour, I accept the appointment as the Pro-Chancellor. I pledge to work closely with you, Tan Sri Chancellor (Vigneswaran) and Council, to address the challenges within our institution.
"I would like to extend my best wishes and more successes to AIMST University. Thank you," he said.
For the record, AIMST University is a private university established by MIC's Maju Institute of Education Development (MIED).
The university, located in Sungai Petani, Kedah, offers medical, science and technology courses.
Meanwhile, Vigneswaran in a Facebook post, said the university's 15th convocation ceremony celebrated the achievements of 642 graduating students.
"There are 143 graduating in medicine, 82 in dental surgery and technology, 74 in pharmacy, 36 in applied sciences, 186 in allied health and 121 in engineering and business management.
"I extend my warmest congratulations to all of you on your outstanding accomplishments," he added.
