KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session above the 1,600 mark with mixed performance, supported by regional indices but pressured by a weaker broader market.
At 12:30 p.m., the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose by 0.38 per cent, gaining 6.06 points to reach 1,602.26, compared to its previous close of 1,596.20.
The broader market saw 453 losers outpacing 373 gainers, while 472 counters remained unchanged.
Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd stated that as the year-end approaches, it anticipates continued window dressing activities within the banking sector, which could boost the key index.
"Meanwhile, the submission of Capital A Bhd's regularisation plan could heighten trading activities in Capital A and AirAsia X Bhd, as the company plans to exit Practice Note 17 (PN17) status by the first quarter of 2025 (1Q25)."
"Lastly, we remain optimistic about the data centre value chain industries within the construction, building material, technology and utilities sectors," it said.
