KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia's benchmark index dipped below 1,600 mark at midday break, dragged by plantation stocks.
At 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBMKLCI) declined by 0.29 per cent, losing 4.60 points to 1,596.08.
The broader market was negative as 522 losers led 289 gainers, while 473 counters remained unchanged.
Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd stated that given the strong dollar environment and the anticipated slower pace of rate cuts, investors are likely to turn their attention back to the technology and glove sectors.
"Also, the breakout in KGB due to strong earnings and positive prospects offers upside potential for AI-driven stocks.
"Selected stocks in the construction, property, and building materials sectors are also expected to report stronger earnings, supported by ongoing data centre investments," it added.
