KUALA LUMPUR: Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd have entered into a long-term agreement with Orkim Sdn Bhd to charter two shipping vessels for the distribution of petroleum products.
Shell said the two vessels will play a crucial role in transporting oil products for Shell Malaysia's downstream fuels business across Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia.
The group said these new builds, equipped with enhanced safety, efficiency and environmental protection features, meet the increasing requirements and compliance standards.
Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd managing director Shairan Huzani Husain said the collaboration marks a major milestone in the group's commitment to support Malaysian stakeholders.
He added that this is through a long-term strategy aimed at enhancing and building capabilities within the local energy sector.
"We are excited to work with Orkim and believe this collaboration will encourage greater involvement from local industry players and foster new initiatives to further develop local capabilities," he said in a statement.
Shell Malaysia and Orkim have a longstanding relationship in the carriage and distribution of petroleum products across Malaysia and Singapore.
