KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia extended its downtrend at midday as all sectors are in the red, mainly the financial services sector which lost 72.67 points.
The disappointing US manufacturing data triggered selloff in the local stock market this morning.
At 12.30pm, FTSE Bursa Malaysia (FBM) KLCI was down 0.75 per cent or 12.12 points to 1,612.13 versus Thursday's close of 1,624.25.
It opened marginally lower at 1,619.31 and hit the lowest level of 1,609.65 in morning trade.
The broader market saw decliners trumped gainers 1,162 to 127 while 271 counters were unchanged.
The index board was also a sea of red. FBM100 tumbled 1.2 per cent to 11,957.01, FBM Emas dropped 1.29 per cent to 12,350.07 and FBM Ace was down 2.59 per cent to 5,485.84.
Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd was among the top losers after recording lower revenue in its third quarter.
It lost 44 sen to RM29.98. United Plantations Bhd lost 42 sen to RM26.44.
