KUALA LUMPUR: UEM Group Bhd chairman Datuk Amran Hafiz Affifudin is poised to assume the group's managing director (MD) post following the departure of Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani to Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).
Sources said Amran, who is also UEM Group's parent Khazanah Nasional Bhd executive director and head of Malaysian investments, will begin his new role as early as tomorrow.
"Today is his last day at Khazanah. He will report for duty at UEM Group tomorrow," a source told Business Times.
Amran joined the board of directors of UEM Group on April 15, 2022 and was re-designated as chairman in January last year.
UEM Group is wholly-owned by Khazanah, and has a 33 per cent stake in MAHB.
MAHB earlier today announced the appointment of Izani as its new MD and the resignation of acting group chief executive officer Mohamed Rastam Shahrom, confirming Business Times' report today.
It is not clear whether Amran will continue holding the UEM Group chairmanship.
Amran also sits on the boards of MAHB, UEM Sunrise Bhd, UEM Edgenta Bhd, UEM Lestra Bhd, PLUS Malaysia Bhd, Projek Lebuhraya Usahasama Bhd, PLUS Expressways International Bhd, Cement Industries of Malaysia Bhd, Cenergi SEA Bhd, UEM Builders Bhd and Iskandar Investment Bhd, among others.
UEM's website shows that Amran began his career in 1997 as a corporate finance executive in Petroliam Nasional Bhd.
He also has experience in the private equity industry, having served in various roles and responsibilities with several firms before joining Khazanah in 2011.
