MAHB names Mohd Izani as MD

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) today announced the appointment of Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani as the group's new managing director, effective Aug 1, 2024.

This confirms a Business Times report on his expected appointment.

MAHB also announced the resignation of its acting group chief executive officer (CEO) Mohamed Rastam Shahrom effective Aug 1, 2024 in a separate Bursa Malaysia filing.

Mohd Izani, 56, who was nominated by Ministry of Finance for the position, is a former Board Member of Malaysia Airports where he served for nine years, from 2011 to 2019.

He has over three decades of extensive investment and management experience. Prior to his appointment at MAHB, he served as managing director of UEM Group Bhd (UEM Group) since Aug 1, 2019.

Before his tenure at UEM Group, Mohd Izani held the position of executive director, investments at Khazanah Nasional Bhd during which time, he headed the Turkey Regional Office and led several landmark sukuk transactions as its chief financial officer.

He also previously served at Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd and Renong Group. "Mohd Izani's experience in the airport aviation and infrastructure sector coupled with his proven leadership, will steer the group towards continued growth and success," MAHB chairman Dr Nungsari Ahmad Radhi said, expressing confidence in the new appointment.

Meanwhile, MAHB announced that Mohamed Rastam will be stepping down from his role as the group chief executive officer and chief financial officer on July 31, 2024 to pursue a new career opportunity.

According to MAHB, Mohamed Rastam played a pivotal role in strengthening the group's financial health and implementing strategic initiatives that enhanced operational efficiency and profitability.

The group said his leadership and vision were instrumental in navigating the company through the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

It added that he continued to drive the company's growth and expansion, solidifying its position as a leading airport operator globally.

"We are grateful for Mohamed's contributions and wish him the best in his future endeavours. His efforts have positioned Malaysia Airports on a strong path, and we are confident in our continued success moving forward," Nungsari said.
