SRG finish third in MLBB M6 after heartbreaking defeat to TLID [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Red Giants' (SRG) dreams of achieving the Golden Road were shattered after they fell to Team Liquid Indonesia (TLID) in the lower-bracket final of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M6 World Championship at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, today.

Earlier in the day, SRG cruised past Russia's Team Spirit with a commanding 3-0 victory in the lower-bracket semi-finals to set up their clash with the Indonesian champions.

Facing TLID for the first time, SRG struggled to match their opponents, who delivered a clinical performance to secure a 3-0 victory.

The loss ended SRG's hopes in front of a packed 7,000-strong crowd at the Axiata Arena.

SRG coach Michael Angelo "Arcadia" Bocado pointed to the team's gruelling schedule as a factor in their defeat.

"Stamina is crucial in tournaments, but I don't want to use that as an excuse," said Arcadia.

"Winning the World eSports Championships (WEC) gave us great momentum, but lack of rest was definitely a disadvantage."

He added: "I remember we returned to Kuala Lumpur from WEC in the morning and went straight into training that evening. The schedule has been tough on the team."

Despite the setback, SRG co-founder Simon Lim praised the team's fighting spirit and never-say-die attitude to finish third in M6.

"The boys have had zero rest, yet they never complained or gave up. This M6 has been a rollercoaster, but they kept pushing forward," said Simon.

"I'm incredibly proud of their spirit and determination. The players and coaching team now deserve a well-earned break."

TLID's win earned them a spot in the Grand Final tomorrow, where they will face Fnatic Onic Philippines (FNOP) for the third time in this tournament.

FNOP have already defeated TLID twice in earlier rounds.
