KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian girls' team outplayed India 12-0 to win their first ever bronze medal in the Asia Rugby Under-18 Sevens at Stadium Rugby Johor in Johor today.
Malaysia had finished fourth in the six-team round robin with two wins, one draw and two losses while India were third.
Malaysia beat Singapore 55-0 and India 12-10, drew with UAE 10-10, and lost 14-10 to Thailand and 32-0 to Hong Kong.
Hong Kong defeated Thailand 31-5 in the final.
The Malaysian boys' team finished fourth after going down 17-14 to Sri Lanka.
In group matches, Malaysia beat Singapore 15-12, India 36-5, Saudi Arabia 49-0 and lost to UAE 48-0. UAE thrashed Hong Kong 43-0 in the final.
