KUALA LUMPUR: You'd expect Selangor Red Giants (SRG) to be feeling the heat heading into Season 14 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League Malaysia (MPLMY).
After all, they're fresh off an unbeaten run last season, which secured them their first league title.
They then carried that form to the Mid-Season Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, bagging a cool US$1 million (RM4.2 million) in prize money.
SRG have continued their blistering form, kicking off their new season with two wins in Week 1, brushing aside Homebois and Team Rey.
Their momentum only grew in Week 2, as they stunned three-time champions Todak.
But despite all the accolades, SRG roamer Qayyum Ariffin "YumS" Suhairi insists there's no pressure weighing them down.
"I'm happy with my gameplay. We lasted until the late game and secured the win over Todak.
"We're using the expectations as fuel, not pressure.
"We want to stay consistent and defend our crown to reach the M6 World Championships — and become world champions," said Qayyum, who was also named MVP in the win over Todak.
The MLBB World Championships, also known as M6, will be held at the Axiata Arena in November.
In other matches over the weekend, newly formed Team Vamos saw off JPN Niners 2-0, while Todak edged RSG Malaysia 2-1 on Friday.
Vamos then returned on Saturday to seal a second win, beating Team HAQ 2-1.
SRG overwhelmed Todak 2-0, and RED Esports swept Team Rey 2-0.
Sunday's action saw JPN Niners grab a solitary 2-0 win over RSG, while Monster Vicious (MV) took down RED 2-0, before Team Rey closed out the weekend by edging Homebois 2-1.
SRG and Team Vamos now sit tied at the top of the standings with 8 points each from three wins.
MV are in third place with five points from two games.
