KUCHING: Federal Territories' Khor Jing Hong became the first athlete to win a gold medal in athletics at the Sarawak Sukma after dominating the men's 20,000m walk event at the Sarawak Stadium here.
The 19-year-old, on his debut, smashed the event's record with a time of 1 hour, 34 minutes and 38.20 seconds, surpassing the 20-year-old record of 1:34:56.10 set by M Thiyagu at the 2004 edition in Negeri Sembilan.
Penang's Sriven Tan claimed the silver with a time of 1:38:25.43, while the bronze went to Selangor's C. Teban Raj, who finished in 1:48:07.56.
