KUALA LUMPUR: After struggling with injuries, diver Nur Dhabitah Sabri is not setting any lofty targets at the Paris Olympics.
Dhabitah is, however, determined to improve on her score in the women's 3m springboard individual event from Tokyo 2020 where she placed fourth, narrowly missing out on the podium.
However, she is expecting the competition to be tougher this time due to rule changes.
"Eeryone who goes to the Olympics wants to win a medal, that is the big dream. But as usual, all I can do is try my best," said Dhabitah.
"I don't want to think about it too much. If we focus on something too much, we may end up missing out and be left disappointed.
"What I want to do is to improve on my dives so that I can register higher marks than I did at the last Olympics.
"The new rules from World Aquatics have made scoring more strict.
"I want to improve on my execution as there is no time to increase my degree of difficulty."
In Tokyo, Dhabitah scored 326.15, just 17.6 points short of bronze medallist Krsyta Palmer from the United States.
Dhabitah, hampered by a tricep injury at the time, failed to secure qualification on merit at the Doha World Championships in February.
She also suffered a wrist injury at last year's Fukuoka World Championships which also doubled up as an Olympic qualifier.
The 25-year-old, however, got a berth in Paris after Malaysia was given an additional quota slot for the women's 3m springboard individual last month.
Dhabitah and Bertrand Rhodict Lises, who will compete in the men's 10m platform individual in Paris, are currently undergoing their final preparations in the United Kingdom before making the short trip to Paris before the opening ceremony on July 26.
