SRAM confident Sivasangari, Eain Yow will shine at 2028 LA Olympics

KUALA LUMPUR: The Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia (SRAM) is confident its players will pull something off at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Squash will be debuting at the Olympics at the LA Games.

SRAM president Gerard Monteiro said while the association has secured funding to prepare players like S. Sivasangari and Ng Eain Yow for LA 2028, they also need to prepare the next crop of players if squash is retained for Brisbane 2032.

"We hope Sivasangari and Eain Yow will peak in 2028. However, we should not lose sight of grooming players like Aifa and Aira Azman, and C. Ameeshenraj for the future," Gerard said after the SRAM annual general meeting at the National Sports Council in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.

"In LA 2028, each country can have a maximum of two players in the men's and women's individual events. However, the qualifying process has yet to be finalised.

"Sivasangari is ranked No. 10. Our mission is to help her break into the top eight. We also hope the Azman sisters and Rachel Arnold will be in the top 10 soon."
