KUALA LUMPUR: The national junior hockey team lost 4-2 to their Australian counterparts in a friendly in Brisbane on Friday.
Former world junior champions Australia scored in the sixth, 26th, 44th and 57th minutes.
The Young Tigers, who are preparing for the Sultan of Johor Cup in October, scored two late goals through Danish Aiman Khairil Anwar (52nd minute) and Nor Syakir Hafiz (56th).
Coach I. Vickneswaran said his players started well but made mistakes as the game progressed.
"Our boys showed quality and fought hard against Australia, who are one of the best teams in the world," said Vickneswaran.
The Young Tigers are in Brisbane to play six matches - four against Australia and two against the Queensland team.
