KUALA LUMPUR: Harimau Malaya will close the season ranked world No. 132 in the FIFA rankings, unchanged from the previous update on Nov 28.
The next rankings update is scheduled for April and will reflect the team's performance under new head coach Peter Cklamovski, who takes charge on Jan 1.
Cklamovski has huge targets to achieve for Harimau Malaya, including breaking into the top 100 in the FIFA rankings and qualifying for the 2027 Asian Cup, with qualifiers beginning in March.
Thailand remain Southeast Asia's highest-ranked team at world No. 97, followed by Vietnam (No. 114), Indonesia (No. 127), the Philippines (No. 150) and Singapore (No. 160).
Malaysia can boost their points tally and improve their standing by defeating Singapore in tomorrow Asean Cup Group A match, which would also secure them a place in the semi-finals.
