KUALA LUMPUR: The wait is finally over, the new head coach of the national football team will be announced today.
This was stated by the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, in an Instagram story posted just before midnight.
"Tomorrow, an announcement will be made regarding the national team's head coach, U-23 (national Under-23) coach, medical team, and technology that will impact the national team.
"Once the head coach is finalised, the CEO and technical director will be announced in the near future," said Tunku Mahkota Ismail.
The Johor Darul Ta'zim owner also revealed plans to strengthen the national squad by scouting for talent from around the world.
"There will also be a meeting with a Fifa representative to obtain data on Malaysian mixed-heritage players abroad," added Tunku Mahkota Ismail.
It was previously reported that Australian football legend Tim Cahill may also play a role in the new project.
The national team are currently helmed by outgoing interim coach, Spaniard Pau Marti Vicente.
