KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) face a crucial Asian Champions League Elite (ACLE) match against China's Shanghai Shenhua at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Tuesday,
But the Southern Tigers will not lack confidence as they aim to leverage on their earlier group match draw (2-2) against Chinese Super League champions Shanghai Port.
However, the visitors will arrive on a high, having achieved a convincing 4-1 victory over Pohang Steelers and claiming four wins in their last five league matches.
"This will be a challenging and dynamic match for both teams. Our focus remains on executing our game plan effectively, and the players are fully committed to rising to the challenge," said JDT head coach Hector Bidoglio.
A critical area of concern for JDT will be their defensive organisation against Shanghai Shenhua's potency in set pieces.
"Set pieces can decisively influence the outcome of a match. Shanghai possess tall and skilful players capable of capitalising on these opportunities," said Bidgolio.
JDT are currently fifth in their ACLE group with one point while Shanghai Shenhua are second with three points, tied with South Korea's Gwangju.
