KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor FC has apologised to its fans after the Red Giants were trashed 6-1 by Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) in last night's FA Cup final.
The club's CEO, Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon said Selangor will try to make it up to its fans in coming tournaments including the Malaysia Cup and the Asia Champions League 2.
He said it was very disappointing to lose to JDT the way they did but was grateful for the support from the fans.
"We were disappointed that we could not win the trophy for our fans who were anticipating last night's match.
"We are sorry we could not produce a better result but we will continue to work hard," he said after the match.
Selangor's loss yesterday was the heaviest loss a team has suffered in an FA Cup final.
Johan also said losing to its rival, JDT was hard but he was proud of the spirit shown by the team against the tournament's favourites.
"JDT looked comfortable playing in the final. We have to learn from our shortcomings."
