Rested City Boys have JDT to deal with

KUALA LUMPUR: After the City Boys enjoyed nearly two weeks of rest, KL coach Miroslv Kuljanac's team will face a hard time tomorrow — against mighty Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) at the KLFA Stadium.

Under the 13-team Super League format, there will be match days when a team do not have a match. And for Kl, their "turn" was last week.

Despite the "scheduled rest', KL City are grappling with injuries and suspensions that have led to several key players out of action.

Croatian Kuljanac said Lazar Sajcic isn't fit, Adrijian Rudovic is suspended and Kamal Azizi has a broken arm.

Nonetheless, Kuljanac was maintaining an optimistic outlook.

He said KL City will focus on ball possession and having longer spells of pressure against JDT.

"It will be a test of our resilience," he added.

Meanwhile, JDT Hector Bidoglio said: "Though it's an away game, our approach will be consistency.

"We anticipate a tough encounter but we aim to assert ourselves with a blend of defensive solidity, dynamism and aggression.

"Our objective is to dictate proceedings, seize control of possession and continuously improving."

The Southern Tigers have won all their last five matches against KL City.

The City Boys' last win over JDT was in 2021 — beating the latter 2-0 in the Malaysia Cup final.
