Tang Jie-Ee Wei achieve highest world ranking [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Mixed doubles Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei's runners-up finish in the recent World Tour Finals (WTF) in Hangzhou, China, has propelled them to their highest world ranking ever.

In the latest world rankings released today, the Malaysian pair are now ranked a commendable fifth.

In the WTF final, Tang Jie-Ee Wei went down fighting 18-21, 21-14, 21-17 to Paris Olympics champions Zheng Si Wei-Huang Ya Qion.

In a BWF video posted on their social media account, Tang Jie-Ee Wei reflected on their 2024 campaign.

"The China Masters quarter-final in Shenzen is the most unforgettable for me. The quarter-final match where we came back from 20-11 down in the second game," said Tang Jie.

In that match, Tang Jie-Ee Wei were on the brink of defeat, having lost the first game 21-4 to China's world No. 13 Guo Xinwa-Chen Fanghui.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei showed great resilience to save 10 match points in the second game before prevailing 4-21, 23-21, 21-16 in 65 minutes.

Another Malaysian mixed doubles, Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai moved up one place to sixth in the rankings.

The married couple made it to the WTF semi-finals before losing to Tang Jie-Ee Wei.
