KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's mixed doubles Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin and Wong Tien Ci-Lim Chiew Sien have reached the second round of the China Masters, but will face formidable opponents next.
National pair Pang Ron-Su Yin avenged their sole defeat (Korea Open first round in August) to Taiwan's Liu Kuang Heng-Jheng Yu Chieh in the opening round at the Shenzhen Gymnasium today.
The world No. 23 downed the 108-ranked Kuang Heng-Yu Chieh 21-17, 21-12 in 31 minutes. Pang Ron-Su Yin will next face China's world No.2 Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin who beat Malaysia's independent pair Tan Kiang Meng-Lai Pei Jing 21-18, 21-11.
Zhen Bang-Ya Xin hold a 2-0 head-to-head record against Pang Ron-Su Yin, with their most recent encounter, a three-game contest at last month's Denmark Open.
Professional pair Tien Ci-Chiew Sien, who ousted Algeria's Koceila Mammeri-Tanina Violette Mammeri 21-15, 21-13, will play Hong Kong's world No. 7 Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet in the next round.
