KUALA LUMPUR: Siti Nurshuhaini Azman was shocked when she found out that she was one of the 13 shuttlers dropped by the BA of Malaysia (BAM) recently.
However, Siti indicated that she will continue her badminton career, albeit in a different category.
Siti lost to her junior, Ong Xin Yee, 21-17, 23-21 in 31 minutes at the Malaysia Super 100 at Juara Stadium today.
Siti revealed that she did not train much for this tournament after her axing from the national team.
"I barely trained a week before this tournament after receiving the news. I'm not satisfied with my performance but at the same time, considering my lack of conditioning, I feel OK about my display against Xin Yee," she said.
Siti said she has two more tournaments to go under the BAM banner, and will take a short break before planning her next move.
"I will play in the Indonesia International Challenge (Oct 22-27) and Indonesia Masters II (Oct 29-Nov 3).
"I will continue to compete but I'm not sure if I will continue in the singles. Nothing is set in stone yet."
Siti was part of the Malaysian team that bagged bronze at the 2022 Asia Championships. She also won the Lithuania International this year.
