GRS seat allocation should be discussed privately, says Gagasan Rakyat leader

KUDAT: The allocation of seats should be discussed internally within Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) vice president Datuk Masiung Banah said by doing it privately, GRS could prevent excessive political tension among the public.

"Are we not part of one large family? It is more prudent to discuss this at the highest level of GRS," he said while officiating the Tanjong Kapor Gagasan Rakyat Annual General Meeting here yesterday.

Masiung's comments came in response to queries about demands from GRS and Pakatan Harapan (PH) parties for additional seats in the State Legislative Assembly.

Last week, Sabah Progressive Party president Datuk Yong Teck Lee had again proposed that GRS contest all State Assembly seats in Sabah.

Masiung added that the Gagasan Rakyat has yet to discuss the matter and urged leaders from GRS and PH at the state level to refrain from making public statements about seat distribution to avoid straining the coalition's relations.

"Let us leave this to the top leaders of GRS and PH to discuss.

"Grassroots leaders making assumptions could lead to misunderstandings."

The meeting, which was held at the Kudat Municipal Council Hall, was attended by over 1,000 delegates, including leaders from GRS and PH.
