KOTA BARU: The six Bersatu members of parliament who have declared support for the unity government will meet a lawyer tomorrow over letters from the party's supreme council demanding they state their stance,
Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim said they and a Selangor assemblyman, who had declared his support for the Pakatan Harapan-led state government, would seek legal advice before deciding on the next course of action.
As of today, he said, they have not come to a decision as to whether they will reply to the letters or keep mum.
"At this point in time, I cannot give any feedback as we want to holding discussions (among ourselves and with a lawyer) first.
"We estimate that the discussion will be done by about 6pm. The discussion will detail whether I should reply to the letter (from Bersatu) and what would be the content of the reply... so, we wait till tomorrow," he said when contacted.
On Friday, Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin had said the six Bersatu "rebels" have received a letter with specific directives to respond to within 14 days.
Though he declined to reveal the specific directives, he said any failure to respond would see them immediately and automatically losing their party memberships under the party's constitution.
The six MPs in question are Aziz, Labuan MP Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman, Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi (Tanjong Karang), Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), and Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar).
The assemblyman who had declared his support for Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari was Selat Klang's Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari.
