KUALA LUMPUR: A customer expressed disbelief over the price of a seemingly ordinary "teh o ais lychee", which she paid a whopping RM15 for.
In a post, TikTok user @nhrnxy08 shared her shock, stating that she had initially expected the drink to cost no more than RM8.
"POV: When expectations don't match reality. I was expecting it to be RM8, the maximum," she wrote in the caption of the first picture. In the second picture, she shared the receipt for her drink, which showed a price of RM15.
The post quickly sparked a debate, with users sharing their thoughts.
User @liza.amir.84 commented, "For that price, we could get three to four items at other places."
Another user, @idgafthh1, sarcastically remarked, "The lychee is premium and homemade, from own farm… hence the price."
User @anisaaminuddin added, "For that price, you could get another tin of lychee."
Many users strongly encouraged the customer to lodge a formal report with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, highlighting the importance of taking action to address the issue at hand.
By doing so, they said that the matter could be properly investigated, and any violations of consumer rights or unfair trade practices could be rectified. Some of them also said that submitting a report could help raise awareness of the issue, potentially leading to broader reforms or preventive measures that benefit consumers.
