KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian woman had her Chanel handbag stolen during a wedding reception at a five-star hotel in the city.
The woman, identified as Ng, took to Instagram last Monday to appeal for public assistance in identifying the culprit.
The incident occurred on Dec 7, with CCTV footage capturing a man who is believed to be responsible.
Ng described the suspect as wearing a light blue shirt, black trousers, and brown shoes.
Footage showed him covering the handbag with a black jacket before exiting the hotel through Jalan Pinang.
Following the incident, Ng lodged a police report and reviewed the CCTV recordings, which revealed that the man had entered the hotel ballroom at around 10pm.
She expressed disappointment over the hotel's handling of the matter, questioning how an unfamiliar individual could roam freely at a private event hosted at a prestigious venue.
"We are baffled as to how a stranger was able to access a private function in a five-star hotel," she said.
