KUALA LUMPUR: A non-Muslim teacher's enthusiasm for teaching Jawi and highlighting its importance has won the hearts of netizens.
Known as @Loren Fren on Facebook, the teacher posted a video of her writing Jawi letters together with the ways to pronounce them on a school whiteboard and on paper.
She said that she rarely gets a chance to teach Jawi, so she made a video for to make it easier for everyone to remember what she taught.
"Jawi has been part of the Year Four to Six Bahasa Malaysia curriculum since 2020. It is aimed at enriching the students' understanding in terms of art, heritage and Malay history. As Malaysians, we should at least know a bit about this historic script.
"Let's stay positive and focus on living peacefully. I hope people will understand that I'm simply teaching from the textbook. I'm not claiming to be an expert as I'm still learning too," she added.
