KUALA LUMPUR: Just days after Malaysia's first Apple Store opened its doors to the public, the commemorative tote bags distributed for free as mementos to attendees on the opening day have appeared on various selling platforms.
Since these bags were exclusively distributed to early bird visitors at the store, it is no surprise that they have become sought-after collector's items among Apple users who were unable to attend the store's opening day at the TRX Exchange Mall.
A quick search using the keywords 'TRX tote' reveals numerous listings, with prices ranging from RM250 to RM3000.
Some sellers are firm and refuse to bargain on their prices, while others are open to negotiation. There were also sellers, who said they would sell the merchandise to the highest bidder.
The tote bags come in a sleek flat square box featuring a special Apple logo that mimics the 3D "tudung saji" roof design. The side of the box is printed with "Apple The Exchange TRX."
The tote bag itself is made of white cloth with Apple Malaysia's "JOM" theme printed vertically. On the back, it has the Apple logo with "Apple The Exchange TRX" printed in gold.
Social media users did not hold back as they poked fun at those who sold the tote bags for quick profit.
"No wonder the TRX Apple Store has such long queues! Those tote bags are selling for a fortune," remarked user @JiasenL.
Other social media users criticized those who bought the tote bags from online sellers, calling it a poor decision.
