KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Malaya (UM) has closed two 24-hour convenience shops on its campus following concerns about the halal status of packaged sandwiches sold there.
In a statement, UM announced that the closure was ordered to facilitate an investigation without any interference.
"The outlets will remain closed until further notice.
"Universiti Malaya is committed to ensuring that products sold on campus are supplied by vendors who comply with the applicable laws, standards, regulations, and procedures," the statement said.
