NILAI: A group of masked men openly attacked and slashed four men with machetes at a restaurant here, around 9.40pm last night.
Five men, suspected to be locals, were recorded getting out of a vehicle before charging towards a group of men who were dining at the restaurant.
District police chief Superintendent Abdul Malik Hasim said five victims were injured in the attack and were sent to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital (HTJ), Seremban.
"Police received a report from a member of the public about four local men, aged between 44 and 59, who were reportedly attacked. The incident took place when the victims were inside a restaurant within the Nilai police jurisdiction," he said in a statement today.
He explained that, according to the preliminary investigation, the victims were attacked by a group of five suspects, believed to be locals, armed with machetes while they were seated having a drink inside the restaurant.
"All the victims were referred to HTJ for treatment, and their condition is reported to be stable," he said.
He further explained that the motive behind the attack remains unclear and is still under investigation.
"The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons and Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt with a weapon," he said.
