Group allegedly recites zikir in 'unusual manner' at KL cemetery

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed receiving a report about a viral video showing a group of people unusually reciting zikir at a Muslim cemetery in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.

Wangsa Maju police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail said the case had been referred to the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) for further investigation.

"The police have confirmed receiving a report regarding a viral video showing a group of people performing zikir in an unusual manner at a cemetery in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, on Dec 28 at about 10.05am.

"The case has been referred to Jawi for further investigation," he said in a statement.

Yesterday, a video of a group of people dressed in white reciting zikir at a Muslim cemetery in broad daylight went viral on social media platforms.

The group was observed bobbing their heads as they recited, though the exact words they were saying remained unclear.
