KOTA KINABALU: The return of the Jom Heboh Carnival to Sabah has enlivened the city's atmosphere, said city mayor Datuk Seri Sabin Samitah.
He said the three-day programme, which began yesterday, brings excitement and provides opportunities for local businesses and residents.
"This programme benefits the residents of Kota Kinabalu and attracts entrepreneurs from outside the city to open stalls here.
"It provides a valuable platform for them to conduct business," he said when met at the carnival at the Sabah Sports Complex in Likas near here.
Sabin said the carnival fosters connections between the public and various government agencies, banks, and other organisations.
He said Kota Kinabalu City Hall's booth at the carnival offers services ranging from digital parking assistance to the sale of eco-friendly products like compost fertilisers made from waste materials.
One of the highlights of this event is the guidance provided to residents on downloading and using the digital parking application, he said.
"We understand that many people still face challenges with the app, and we have attendants on-site to help them.
"This is an excellent opportunity for residents who may find it difficult to visit our offices during regular hours," he said.
The digital parking app, which currently boasts 180,000 users, has been a key focus at the event.
He said the app also allows users to manage parking payments for friends and family.
"Those who are unsure how to use the app can even ask their children, friends, or relatives for help.
"All they need to do is share their parking location, vehicle details, and duration, and the payment can be made remotely.
"It's incredibly easy and user-friendly."
