Two women injured after car plunges into four-metre ravine in Tawau

TAWAU: Two women were injured after the car they were travelling in skidded and plunged into a four-metre-deep ravine along Jalan Kampung Ranggu this morning.

In the 7.30am incident, the victims, aged 33 and 31, were rushed to Tawau Hospital for further treatment.

District Fire and Rescue Station chief Jemishin Ujin said a team of eight, in two fire engines, was dispatched to the scene after being alerted at 7.40am.

"Upon arrival, the team found that the accident involved a car that had skidded and plunged into a four-metre ravine.

"Two victims were still inside the vehicle and were successfully rescued by the team," he said in a statement today.

He added that both victims were sent to Tawau Hospital for further treatment.

"The fire team conducted a final inspection to ensure the scene was safe before ending the operation at 8.19am," he said.
