KLUANG: An accident involving two cars claimed the life of a 78-year-old man at Km56.5 of Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing, here, this morning.
Lau Yuen Heng was behind the wheel of his car when another vehicle heading in the opposite direction rammed into it.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said Lau was traveling from Bandar Kluang towards Taman Megah, when he attempted to make a right turn into Jalan Serindit at 9am.
However, a 34-year-old driver is believed crashed into the left side of Lau's car, causing it to flip over and leaving Lau with severe head injuries that killed him instantly at the scene.
Bahrin said the driver, who was heading straight on the road from Batu 3 towards Bandar Kluang, sustained minor injuries in the accident and was admitted to the Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital.
Both persons involved had valid driving licenses, and the case is under investigation.
