PASIR MAS: Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhammad Akmal Saleh said he believes more former Umno leaders and members will return soon, bolstering the party and helping it recover seats lost in the elections.
Their return would strengthen the party and helped Umno to recapture the seats that they have lost in the last General Election, he said.
"We (Umno) are opened to receive any former members who were expelled from it especially those who have served the party before but with conditions.
"The organisation (Umno) has a constitution and discipline that must be adhered to," he said after involving in a gotong-royong to clean Kemas kindergarten at Kampung Serungga here today.
Dr Akmal said former members like former vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, former Selangor Umno liasion committee chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar, former Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and former information chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan are welcomed to return to Umno if they still loved the party.
"Having differences in opinion in Umno are normal. How many times have we had different opinions but in this party, when we have different opinions, we accept all points of views.
"We also adhered to the decision made by the party's leaders later.
"If we sit in the spirit of one family, I believe that Umno can be strengthened. Umno can't afford to lose even one person as l believe that everyone has their own strengths, so if you still love Umno, you are welcomed to join the party again.
"Former Pasir Salak member of Parliament Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman already returned to the party so l believe many will follow his footstep," he added.
Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi recently said there is no reason for the party's Supreme Council to reject the appeals of suspended members who show the same level of commitment as Tajuddin in seeking to lift their suspensions.
Tajuddin returned to Umno on Nov 25. His request was accepted by Zahid.
