SEREMBAN: A lorry carrying sawdust overturned, blocking three lanes after its cargo spilled onto the North-South Expressway (Plus) at KM260.2 today.
The incident, which occurred at around 5pm, caused congestion stretching up to 30km, reaching the Pedas/Linggi exit.
Seremban police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din, said preliminary investigations revealed the Hino lorry was driven by a 42-year-old man travelling from Seremban towards Klang, Selangor.
"The lorry, loaded with sawdust, is believed to have lost control, resulting in the sawdust spilling onto the emergency lane, left lane, and middle lane.
Following the accident, the lorry driver was uninjured. However, the emergency, left, and middle lanes were closed, leaving only the right lane accessible," he said today.
He added that the accident also caused slow-moving traffic along the highway near the scene.
"Police officers are on-site to help ease the congestion. The case is being investigated under Rule 19 LN166/59, and further investigations are ongoing," he said.
Meanwhile, Plus reported that as of 8.15pm, the left lane remains closed, with congestion stretching 30km. Members of the public are advised to use alternative routes.
