Flooded NSE stretch reopens partially, left lane remains closed

ALOR STAR: The southbound lanes of the North-South Expressway (NSE) at Km28.4, between Jitra and Hutan Kampung, which were closed due to flooding yesterday, have now been partially reopened to traffic.

In an update on the X platform, highway operator PLUS Malaysia Bhd confirmed that only the left lane remained closed.

"Latest status: only the left lane is still closed. Traffic is under control. Please plan your journey using Google Maps or Waze," the statement read.

Kubang Pasu police chief Superintendent Mohd Redzuan Salleh said that the affected stretch was reopened as floodwaters began to recede.

"Following the latest monitoring by police and PLUS, floodwaters at Km28.3 (Jitra) are subsiding, and cleanup work has been completed. The stretch has been reopened with one lane accessible to all types of vehicles," he said.

He advised motorists to plan their routes to avoid congestion and provided the Kubang Pasu district police headquarters' hotline at 04-917 2222, for further inquiries.

Yesterday, the southbound stretch was closed to all vehicles due to the flooding, diverting traffic to the Malau exit.
